Welcome to St Columba Church, Frankton
Our Parish Priest
Father Stuart Young is our resident Parish Priest. He resides in Hamilton at
50 Rifle Range Road and can be reached on 07 847 5688.
Our History
The Frankton Catholic Parish was established in 1924 under St. Columba's patronage. While the church was being built, Mass was held in the Frankton Town Hall, which was later demolished to make way for Hall Street.
Rev. Father O'Flynn was transferred from Te Kuiti to become the first pastor of Frankton.
Frankton became Hamilton's second parish after St Mary's (now Marian). The church, school, and presbytery were built together.
St Columba's Catholic School was completed in March 1925. It opened with 90 foundation pupils, which grew to 119 by the end of the year.
